Sometimes it occurs to us that it might be time to sell our home and here are some signs to help you decide whether it is time to sell it or keep it.
- The Family is Growing
Remember when it was just you and your spouse? You had all the space and more in your home to move freely around. One bed is enough to get cozy in and the living room was too big to hang around in. Then suddenly, here comes the kids. Your tiny home might be enough for you as a couple but as the children grow, you will need more space for them just as much as you need yours. It might be time to sell your house now to move in to a bigger home for the family.
- Storage space
You might be the type of person that don’t want to have kids and be thinking “I don’t need too much space since I’ll be living alone” or “it’s just me and the spouse”. Most people forget that they need space for their belongings and end up looking like one of those episodes in Hoarders. Don’t be that person! It’s either you sell some of your stuff or sell your home and get more space for yourself.
- They grow up too fast
We know we just made a point about getting a new home for the kids. As parents it will be hard to cope with the idea that someday our kids will grow up and establish their own lives but that’s just the way it is. One day our kids will grow up and have a family of their own and we will end up with a quite peaceful home. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice to have some quite from time to time but eventually it will feel like an empty nest and the big spaces of our homes make it more lonesome. If the emptiness of your home make you lonely, maybe it’s time to sell it and get a place smaller that’s just for you.
- The Community Isn’t What It Used To Be
Moving in to a new neighborhood is always fun. Getting a first time look of how peaceful and vibrant your new neighborhood is exciting. In a few years time things start to change, more families moving in, major roads being built, establishments rising and suddenly it gets harder and harder to get home due to heavy traffic. Crime may come along with this growth in population. It’s not wrong to relocate if the neighborhood becomes burdensome and security becomes an issue. So go ahead and sell the house and go someplace else that will make you feel more secure and at peace.
- You’re on the road more than at home
Being at home for the family is essential in keeping our happiness and sanity in check. Did you know that studies show that people who spend more time with their family are happier and less stressed than people who are farther from their families? It is common nowadays for parents to miss out on their children’s milestones due to heavy traffic or their jobs are just too far away from home. If you are missing out on things at home it might be time to move closer to work or find work that is closer to home.
